Head of Chancery, Embassy of Chile in Mexico
Member of the Chilean Foreign Service, Fernando Velasco entered the Diplomatic Academy in 1992. He has a Bachelor’s in History from the Valparaiso Catholic University and a Master’s in International Relations at the University of Chile.
He has worked at the Chilean embassies in Japan (1996-2001), Peru (2003-2008) and Argentina (2010-2015). Since June 2017, he has held the position of Head of Chancery in the Chilean Embassy in Mexico. In the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Santiago, he worked in the Planning Department, the Foreign Policy Department and in the Cabinet of the Undersecretary. He was head of the Argentina Unit and manager at the Bi-Oceanic Corridors Initiative for the South America Department.
